When Peace is Permanent

What does Jesus give us? Peace.  “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you." John 14:27 What does Jesus want us to do with His peace? How do we live a life of discipleship daily? Peace isn't found in perfect circumstances. When is peace permanent? Peace is found in a person. Isaiah called Him the "Prince of Peace." When we draw near to Him, we discover that peace isn't something we have to manufacture. It is something we receive.

Welcome to Jesus Meditations. I'm Tim Dutellus, and on today's episode, we're talking about peace. Peace is permanent. In John chapter 14, verse 27, Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. Jesus never promised us a life without trouble. He promised us something better. His peace in the middle of it. Jesus is the source of peace. Peace isn't found in perfect circumstances, a full bank account or problem-free life. Peace is found in a person. Jesus said, My peace I give you. His peace is different from what the world offers. The world's peace depends on what is happening around us. Jesus' peace depends on who is with us. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Isaiah called him the Prince of Peace. Jesus doesn't simply teach peace, he is peace. When we draw near to him, we discover that peace isn't something we have to manufacture. It's something we receive. His presence reminds us that we are not alone, not forgotten, and not without hope. And Jesus overcomes. Jesus told his disciples, In this world you will have trouble, but take heart. I have overcome the world. John 16, verse 33. Notice the honesty, you will have trouble. But notice the promise, Jesus has overcome. That means our peace doesn't have to disappear when our circumstances change. Jesus is still Jesus. When the diagnosis comes, when the relationship breaks, when the future is uncertain, and when life feels overwhelming. The peace Jesus gives is not temporary, peace is permanent because Jesus is permanent. When everything around you is shaking, hold on to the one who has already overcome.
